Hezbollah’s Syrian Demonstration in Beirut

By: Freedom Fighter

March 9/2005

Hezbollah chieftain Nasralla obviously does not understand what true Honor is and does not believe that truth must be the basis of national politics especially when the destiny of a whole people is at stake. His Syrian demonstration held in Beirut today had the following fraudulent characteristics:

  1. The demonstration was in its majority attended by Syrian nationals. Lebanon’s borders with Syria are completely open. Syria with its 20 million people has easily shuttled dozens of thousands of its people to Beirut. Eye witness accounts to the effect have been published in numerous news reports today. Syrians can enter Lebanon from any direction, without a passport, without a visa, without a permit, with no question asked. They can move freely anywhere in the country without being stopped and are protected by the forces of the occupation regime.

  1. About 500,000 (half a million) Syrian workers reside in Lebanon and many were ordered or have voluntarily attended the demo.

  1. Hezbollah’s demo is being held on a day that is a national holiday in Syria, allowing Syrians to attend the Beirut gathering.

  1. The forces of the occupation regime has completely opened all roads to the Hezbollah demonstrators and facilitated their busing and arrival to the assembly location, while blocking opposition demonstrators the day before throughout the country via roadblocks that caused traffic jams miles long and several hours delay. The opposition demonstrators have braved a Stalinist police state to show up.

  1. News reports have described a campaign of coercion conducted by the Lahoud occupation regime and Hezbollah to force hundreds of municipalities and villages in the North, Bekaa, and South of the country to present “bodies” for the demo.

  1. Syrian occupation in Lebanon is 30 years old. Syria has had the time to demographically change the face of Lebanon through the military, economic, and political ethnic cleansing of its native population (1.2 million out of the 3.5 million Lebanese left the country since 1990), as well as the illegal nationalization of 400,000 Syrians.

If Nasrallah had a shred of dignity, he would have played a fair democratic game rather than resort to cheating. Ultimately, the real test will be the ballot box in a free election held without the presence of the Syrian occupation troops, their hordes of intelligence services, or their appointed puppet regime. Until then, our reply is this; we are not impressed. Allegiance to a foreign power against your country is treason. There are no loyalists, only collaborators.

We still intend to save All Lebanese (who fell to it) from the brainwashing practiced upon them during the last 30 years, by the joint Syrian-Iranian occupation. We have resisted for 30 years, and shall continue for another 1000 years if we must.

Long Live Free Lebanon
